So, the guy on the left in the first panel is a swipe. Or a reference, I guess, since I’m citing it. The original screaming guy is the work of Kelly Freas and dates, so far as I know, from the inside cover of Queen’s 1977 News of the World album. The guy has also been used on the cover of The Locust’s self-titled album, and appears in a panel of Alex Ross’ Kingdom Come. I advocate using this guy in any panicking crowd scene, and consider him the visual accompaniment to the Wilhelm Scream. In the absence of any objections, I christen him “Wilhelm Freas, the Perpetually Terrified Man.”
